Introduction
Welcome to International Railfair!
This year’s
show will be our 29th Annual show! We are very proud of the success
of every show during the past 28 years. We work throughout the year
planning, researching, and improving our show. We are rewarded every
second weekend in November with the smiles of many model railroaders and
families as they enjoy a Saturday and/or Sunday viewing our many operating model
railroads and exhibits.
Who is International Railfair? Four model railroad clubs and
organizations: Sacramento Modular Railroaders, Roseville Roundhouse Model
Railroad Club, European Train Enthusiasts, and the Sierra Division of the
National Model Railroad Association. Members of these clubs created and sponsor
International Railfair, Inc., a non-profit organization. We display
operating model railroads to the public and educate the public about model
railroading, railroad history, and prototypical railroad operations. Basically,
we want to share the best family hobby in the world with you and your family!
The two-day show is called "International Railfair" because one
of our sponsor clubs, European Train Enthusiasts, specializes in building and
operating European model railroads.
Today our show has become a county fair of model railroad activities. International Railfair offers a
large number of operating model railroads. We rent three buildings at the Placer
County
Fairgrounds in Roseville, California and fill them with operating model
railroads of many different scales, and vendors who sell model railroad and
railfan products. Two buildings include a snack bar
operated by the Rainbow Girls. Displays include exhibits set up by
Operation Lifesaver to educate the public about railroad grade crossing safety,
and an outdoor live steam railroad that visitors can ride, courtesy of the
Sacramento Valley Live Steamers!
Kids love model railroads. So do adult kids! Be sure to bring your
cameras and plan to spend a day full of fun for you and your family! If
you have any questions while at the show, please feel free to ask our members
wearing green International Railfair vests. Have questions now? You
can contact me [Paul] at IRFinformation@aol.com
